European Paper Week: 16-18 November 2010

The theme of this year’s European Paper Week, which takes place in Brussels from 16-18 November, is ‘European Paper Industry – at the core of green growth’. The event – which is the European paper and pulp industry’s biggest annual conference, with some 300 participants – will focus on the key issues both for the pulp and paper sector.

With the global economic downturn, industrial activity is back on the political agenda. Raw materials for the paper and pulp industry are closely linked to EU policy on sustainable use of resources. The programme for the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) AGM on 18 November will be built around the goals of the pulp and paper industry and EU policy, as established in the EU2020 strategy. CEPI has invited EU Commission Vice President Tajani to deliver the keynote speech, while MEP and Chairman of the Industry Committee, Herbert Reul, has been asked to present the priorities of the European Parliament. Open seminars will cover the latest developments on public-private partnerships in research, raw materials, recycling, bio-refinery and transport.

European paper Week will also include the Pulp & Paper International Awards 2010, which will take place on the 16 November in Brussels.
